BHA Responds to Senate Confirmation of Stone-Manning as BLM Director

MISSOULA, Mont. – Responding to this evening’s Senate vote confirming Tracy Stone-Manning as director of the Bureau of Land Management, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers President and CEO Land Tawney offered the following statement:

“Hunters and anglers that rely on our public lands and waters will have a strong and smart advocate for our values, wildlife and treasured landscapes in BLM Director Stone-Manning. Her breadth of experience and deep understanding of the diverse and sometimes competing uses of our Bureau of Land Management lands will help broker agreements and policies to advance their collaborative management and balanced administration.

“BHA has had the pleasure of working with Tracy often during her long career in resource management. We look forward to continuing to work together – and to doing the people’s work – in service of the great BLM lands and waters that form the foundation of our American outdoor traditions.”

Stone-Manning’s career in natural resources management and Western policy includes stints as director of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and chief of staff to former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock. She also has served as a senior advisor for Sen. Jon Tester of Montana. Stone-Manning most recently worked as associate vice president of public lands at the National Wildlife Federation.

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the voice
for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
